Prior to moving from Melbourne, I worked as an administrator for a disability service provider for two years. I worked closely with my team to create a career assessment package tailored to candidates with varying physical and health related employment barriers. I was then an admissions officer and a booking clerk for a local hospital before I came to Driver Hire.
A dynamic and progressive career opportunity
I joined because of the way Dean (Managing Director) sold the company – as a dynamic and progressive opportunity with strong, long-term national career potential. His obvious care for and pride in the company resonated with me.

I started working as a Recruitment Coordinator in September 2017 and whilst I am still working to recruit and manage drivers, I am now responsible for a large part of Sydney payroll on a weekly basis and I am also beginning to take on some aged debt responsibilities.
A strong sense of team spirit
I am proud to be part of Driver Hire and enjoy hitting the ground running every Monday. One of the things I enjoy the most is the feeling that I have a support structure, both within our Sydney team and from management across Australia.
Sydney has a strong sense of team spirit, which motivates me when I need it and helps me feel that I am part of something greater when I am faced with a challenging situation.
A sense of accomplishment I have never experienced before
I enjoy sourcing good candidates for a position, filling that role and seeing the driver succeed, resulting in reliable hours with positive financial and professional outcome with repeat business.
I like dealing with candidates who genuinely want to find work and finding them sustainable employment, which gives me a sense of accomplishment greater than I have experienced in a previous role.
Driver Hire Australia has great backing
I would like to have had enough payroll, compliance, administrative and recruitment experience to be considered for a senior position within the company and as things stand, Sydney can only expand. I would like to see at east one more office open here within the next two years.
Driver Hire Australia has some great support from Driver Hire UK and upper management, especially with payroll, and personally I enjoy being part of a wider global workforce. Plans to expand within Australia and New Zealand are exciting and I look forward to being involved in these.

I am constantly supporting our drivers to find them sustainable and appropriate work, including making recommendations regarding upgrading a licence should they be keen to do so and should the company we have placed them offer this. I gain feedback from our clients and pass this on to our drivers to maintain a great working relationship.
One of our drivers, David Carroll, is a great example of this solid communication as he travelled from the UK with his HGV licence to work with us. David came out here on a Visa 417 and with his excellent work ethic and our help, had his licence converted to HC and worked for us consistently over the course of a year.
A few facts about David:
- David speaks German and lived in Solingen for a year. It’s his favourite place
- He has seven dachshunds called Flash, Atticus, Harper, Nero, Georgia, Tuscan and Holly!
- His proudest moment was reaching his first year anniversary at Driver Hire and having his hard work recognised by Dean Hewitt (MD).
