I first got into recruitment in the UK, where I worked for two agencies which focused on the transport sector. I then went on to work for an agency in Brisbane in 2009 in which I set up their transport and logistics division , before joining Driver Hire in 2014.

After research, I saw that Driver Hire were starting out in Australia

I came across Driver Hire after seeing some of the marketing material at one of the clients I was visiting whilst working at the previous agency. I did some research and saw that Driver Hire had a large national presence in the UK and were starting to open offices here. Dean first approached me as he was looking for a Branch Manager in Brisbane.

I could see that there was potential all round

I was extremely impressed by the processes Driver Hire had in place; Driver Hire Assessments, Fuel Efficient Driving courses and thoroughness of the interviews.

After seeing everything Driver Hire had to offer, I realised that if I was successful in joining, there would be a great opportunity not only for myself, but also to make Driver Hire Australia a recognised name in transport recruitment as there was no one else that I know of that offered these services. I was promoted to QLD State Director after two years of joining Driver Hire and I am now the Regional Director for Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.

Great camaraderie in our office

I have an extremely varied and enjoyable role, no one day is ever the same. I manage a team of consultants, ensure the branches are profitable and that we are fully compliant. We have great camaraderie in our offices, where we are all working for the same goals.

It’s great to see how quickly the company has grown in Australia. I’m proud of the fact we are now a recognised name in Transport Recruitment.

The prospect of opening more offices in Australia and New Zealand is extremely exciting and shows that Driver Hire is determined to have an international footprint. I speak regularly with the UK and despite the time different, they are always available to speak and deal with any queries.

Keeping our client’s trucks moving

Our role is extremely important. As there is a shortage of drivers in Australia, companies rely on us to recruit good quality drivers in order to keep their trucks moving.
