Streefland Group is a Tasmanian family-owned transport and logistics business providing express freight, contract logistics, 3PL and storage solutions across Tasmania and to and from mainland Australia.

With continued growth across its southern operations, Streefland Group is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to take ownership of its Hobart operation from its Glenorchy facility.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who understands transport, knows how to lead people and is comfortable making decisions in a busy freight environment.

You won't be managing the operation from behind a desk.

Working closely with drivers, depot staff, customers and the wider Streefland team, you'll have responsibility for keeping freight, vehicles and people moving safely, efficiently and reliably each day.

The role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll take day-to-day ownership of the southern operation, including coordinating drivers, vehicles and freight movements; managing fleet availability and utilisation; leading drivers and depot staff; maintaining strong safety and Chain of Responsibility standards; monitoring service performance; and resolving operational issues as they arise.

Importantly, you'll also play a key role in maintaining relationships with Streefland's customers and ensuring the operation continues to deliver the responsive, reliable service expected of the business.

You'll work closely with Streefland's Launceston and Ulverstone operations and mainland transport partners as part of the broader statewide network.

About you

We're looking for someone with a strong grounding in transport, logistics, fleet management or depot operations who is ready to take genuine ownership of an operation.

You'll ideally bring experience leading drivers or operational teams, a strong understanding of freight and transport operations, and the ability to balance service, people, safety and commercial priorities.

You'll be organised, practical and decisive. Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable dealing with customers, communicating with people at every level of the operation and getting involved when the situation calls for it.

Experience in pallet and carton freight distribution, Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management, GPS/freight scanning systems and fleet management systems would be highly regarded. A heavy vehicle licence would also be advantageous.
